September 2017: Orlando by Virginia Woolf

First published October 1928

Chosen by Liz,

"This book describes the adventures of a poet and nobleperson who magically changes sex from male to female and lives for centuries, meeting the key figures of English literary history along the way. The main character is based on Virginia's longtime female lover, Vita Sackville-West. Vita's son has called the novel 'the longest and most charming love letter in literature'. I have not read this book before but have wanted to for a long time. I hope the group enjoys it."
